Never fix the hooks into plasterboard alone: in a plasterboard ceiling, fix them into a joist. If you are unsure about your ceiling, ask a professional. Adjust the rope length to suit your room and check the ropes and fixings regularly.
Outdoors: only the seat fabric is waterproof; the frame is wood and the ropes are cotton. Bring the swing indoors during long periods of rain and over the winter.
